Loving, Sweet, Purr-suasive
Alaric isn't exactly channeling his ancient namesake, Alaric I, the mighty king known for sacking Rome. But, don't be surprised if he tries to conquer your lap and claim it all to himself! His top priorities are winning you over with his orangy good looks and eating at every opportunity. He likes to roam around the room at the cattery and clean up the food dishes. Then he'll wait for the next opportunity to love on the nearest person. He's a little derpy and has been known to fall asleep with his forehead to the floor. We think it may be a ploy to make you love him that much more, and it's absolutely effective!
Alaric loves to be picked up and held, and will give your nose little head butts as he purrs away. He likes to rub his soft cheeks against your face and appreciates you reciprocating by giving him nose scratches. He's great with children - indeed, with humans of all ages! He does like to give your fingers a friendly nip every once in a while. So, a home without children would be best.
Alaric tolerates cats at the shelter. But, he doesn't seek them out or cuddle with them. He prefers keeping his people all to himself and doesn't hesitate to let other kitties know when he'd like his space. He'd do just fine in a house with other kitties, but would love to have you all to himself!
We're starting to think that Alaric may have some things in common with his ancient namesake after all. He does want to be the king of your castle and the ruler of your heart. But, unlike the other guy, he'll accomplish his goals with purrs, snuggles and love. And, the beauty of it all is that everyone's a winner! Contact us to meet Alaric today and get ready to do a victory lap with your new best friend!
Alaric has tested positive for Feline Leukemia Virus. FeLV causes a weaker immune system and often a shorter life-span; but for the most part, 'FeLVies' are just like any other cat. APA! waives their adoption fees, and provides treatment and support post-adoption. Alaric can only live with other FeLV+ cats, but dogs and other animals are just fine! Any questions? We'd love to talk with you about FeLV care.
Alaric is a healthy FIV+ (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) cat. FIV+ cats typically live long, healthy lives! For more information, please contact APA! or read this FAQ: http://bit.ly/2DPxI43
