Calm. Shy. Affectionate.

Merle Highchurch is at first glance a shy, reserved guy but you can get his attention with pets! He is cautious from his past experiences but is responding really well to being treated with kindness. With time and patience, he'll make a great lap cat in a quiet home.

Merle's orange tabby fur makes him look so sweet and elegant. He is well behaved and loves to be high where he can see what's going on, so a place where he can perch himself and survey his surroundings would be great for Merle.

Most of the time Merle is quiet and reserved, but at times he turns into a curious boy who likes to seek out head scratches. Just like in the old adage says, 'Cats choose us, we don't own them.'

While it's not known how Merle does with other cats or dogs, Merle would be happy as the only pet but would do okay with fur friends as long as they are friendly and as long as a proper introduction is done.

When you visit, just whisper 'Hello, Merle!' and he'll trot up to the door to greet you. He is very affectionate to a kind touch and is okay being picked up. You just need to go slow with this fella. With time, love and affection Merle will be a great lap kitty. What do his caretakers have to say? "We absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the little guy!"

Merle is on a wet food diet to keep his digestive system running well, and takes medication for hyperthyroidism. He's been feeling much better since being on a steady diet, and worth a bit of extra attention!

All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
