Handsome, Sweet, Delightful

Doesn't Tex's sad face make you want to run out and save him? Us too. Despite his melancholy look, Tex is a friendly and affectionate cowpoke. Add that mustache and goatee, and he is a delightful bobblehead of a cat!

For perhaps the first time in his life, Tex is experiencing human love, and he gives it two paws up! Cheek scratches are THE BEST, and as soon as he sees you he will rub up against you, purr, and gladly receive pets. So THIS is what he has been missing his whole life! He purrs at the sight of people in anticipation for the love he's about to receive. He's an excellent substitute for a weighted blanket too. He'll happily doze on your chest while you read the night away.

"Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above; Don't fence me in" (Gene Autry, lyrics by Cole Porter) - but our feline cowboy, Tex, feels exactly the opposite! His greatest wish in the world is his own space in a home he can feel safe in. He'll start with a small area, and then venture out once he's comfortable with that, gradually expanding his territory. But he'll probably always love having a cozy nook where he can retreat for privacy.

Give Tex a toy rolled in catnip, and you have his attention! He may not play with it, but he sure will enjoy rolling all over it and licking it to get all those good catnip fumes. Dude knows how to indulge! Speaking of indulging...keep the treats coming. He LOVES them!

We think Tex would be great with kids who pet him gently! He could be okay with another cat, too - as long as they respect his space.

Tex's humans should be patient as he gets used to his new environment, and they should set him up with a place in the house that he can call his own, be it a small room or a quiet corner of a larger room. He will absolutely welcome you into his alcove, rubbing on you and purring! And soon he will be roaming around the house. Watching this shy boy become brave, and giving his wistful face all the loves and snugs will warm you to the tips of your boots!

So contact us today and ride on over to meet Tex, the quintessential sweet, humble, and easy-going buckaroo!

Tex is a healthy FIV+ (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) cat. FIV+ cats typically live long, healthy lives! For more information, please contact APA! or read this FAQ: http://bit.ly/2DPxI43

Tex has tested positive for FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus). FeLV cats have a virus that causes a weaker immune system - they do not have cancer! For the most part, felvies are just like any other cat. You could not pick one out of the crowd, and they generally do not require much additional care. As a bonus, we waive their adoption fees! APA! provides full coverage and treatment for any FeLV-related issues that arise after the time of adoption. Cats with FeLV typically have a shortened lifespan - we like to compare it to the lifespan of adopting a senior kitty, with the added benefit that they don't have chronic senior health problems, and that FeLV-related medical care is covered. Tex is not contagious to people, dogs or other animals, but should live only with other FeLV+ cats. For more information, please contact APA! or read more by our Partner, Best Friends Animal Society: http://bit.ly/2FwYCxR

All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
