Cuddly, Affectionate, Silly
Unlike his namesake, when Boomhauer speaks you can understand everything he says! He's a quiet boy, though, and will only meow to tell you, "food, please." In fact, he is rather ninja-quiet and is known to suddenly be standing behind you - so stay on your toes so that you don't step on HIS toes!
Sit on the sofa with a book or your laptop and you are an instant magnet for cuddly Boomhauer! He will find a way to sit in your lap so that it's easy for you to give him gentle pets (see, he's thinking of YOU). If he can't wedge himself into your lap, he might situate himself in a funny and contorted position on your shoulder! You have to keep the pets light, though, because if he becomes overstimulated the cuddle session turns into a play, bite, and wrestle session.
Boomhauer isn't super playful, but he spends quality time with his scratching post and sometimes will chase a small toy around the floor. He is curious about open closet doors and drawers, making sure to inspect every inch of them. He is fascinated by what's going on outside, and would love an enclosed balcony, patio, or catio to do some lounging and bug hunting! Otherwise, he is happy to find a nice place to snooze.
Boomhauer is happy to hang out with you. He likes being near people, and to be sociable will position himself in the middle of what you are doing - and to make sure he gets some attention! He likes to sleep with you at night but doesn't need to be on your bed. And in the morning he likes to step all over you to greet you with chest cuddles!
The best home for Boomhauer would be chill and laid-back. When he gets nervous or stressed he tends to overlick himself (and might even lick you!). His people should be looking for a friendly and low-key feline companion who is affectionate and sweet.

Boomhauer has tested positive for Feline Leukemia. FeLV is not a type of cancer. It's a virus that causes a weaker immune system and often a shorter life-span. For the most part, 'FeLVies' are just like any other cat. APA! waives the adoption fees of these cats, and provides FeLV-related treatment and support post-adoption. Boomhauer can only live with other FeLV+ cats, but dogs and other animals are just fine! Any questions? We'd love to talk with you about FeLV care.
All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
