Lovable, Wary, Playful

Leonardo is an intelligent kitty full of life experiences. He was a stray once, a wild child living on the streets, some might even use the f word to describe him...feral. But, there was something about kind humans and yummy treats that tamed this beautiful boy. Once he decides to trust you, he's downright loving. He'll come to you when called and loves ear rubs and when you stroke his handsome head. He does have certain boundaries and would appreciate it if you didn't put your head right in his face or touch his stomach, tempting as that might be! He may swipe at you if you don't abide by these rules. The nicest way he can think of to let you know to back off please.

Leonardo is a bright boy who learned sit after only a few requests coupled with some scrumptious deli ham. He also loves canned tuna or chicken. Give him either and he might just decide you're his most favorite person! If you like to sleep long and late, Leonardo is on board! He'll cuddle up with you in bed and hang out as long as you'd like. His current record is 12 hours!

Leonardo is very playful and loves chasing after lasers. He can be adorably mischievous and likes to hide, jump out and "catch you, then run off like crazy. Such a funny kitty!

Some of Leonardo's dislikes include thunder, being held and loud noises. We get it, they all represent potential danger when you're roughing it on your own. Add dogs to the list too. He was attacked by one once so is now fearful of them. However, he did tolerate the therapy dog in his previous home. It's possible he could warm up to a super cat-friendly pup if given a slow introduction. He might tolerate another cat, but he's not particularly fond of them.

This handsome boy is such a no-nonsense alpha kitty that he would likely be happiest as the only cat. Also, because Leonardo is most comfortable in a calm environment, and may give a smack if he's handled in certain displeasing ways, a home with either adults only or with older kids who understand and respect Leonardo's preferences would be best.

If you'd enjoy the company of a street smart cat who will show you his soft, loving side with patience (and treats!), Leonardo would be an excellent fit. He's proven he wants to love someone, he just needs to be assured that he safely can. If you want the honor and rewards of adding a happy, forever home to Leonardo's life experiences, contact us to meet this tamable tiger today!

All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
