Cautious, Fearful, Needs a hero
We don't know Pasquale's entire history, and it's mind-boggling to think that this gorgeous cat could be 8 years old and still be unsure about people. Since we have known him, he hasn't had a consistent home with loving people, and we suspect that's the way it's been his entire life. We need to change that for him.
Pasquale needs a cat-experienced and patient human who is going to be there for the long haul. His human should be able to give Pasquale the space and time he needs, while slowly and gently providing the socialization that he likely never got as a kitten. Pasquale never learned to crave attention from humans or discover a favorite toy. We would love for that to change for him, though it will take time and kindness.
In a previous foster home, Pasquale observed how his co-foster siblings interacted positively with people, and he thought, "Oh, so that's how it works! I'm gonna get me some of that." After a while, he agreed that getting pets from humans feels good! He might do well in a home with another super chill and respectful cat who can show him the ropes, provide moral support, and help him feel safe.
After being adopted and then returned to APA! because his human was moving and couldn't take him along, Pasquale is kind of back to square one. He will accept treats, but that's all he wants at this point; pets are not something he understands or needs. He will want some places to hide and feel safe. We can imagine his new human simply sharing space with him, not pushing too hard, just letting Pasquale be...and eventually, Pasquale emerging from his hiding place and little by little, out of the shell he created out of necessity. He deserves someone who will provide a stable home and give him love to help him trust. He's had too much inconsistency and upheaval in his life.
Pasquale is a Maine Coon mix with a thick and luxurious coat; when he arrived at APA! his gorgeous coat was so matted that we had to shave it so that it could grow back clean and healthy. He has tuxedo markings and a white blaze down his face, and once his fur grows back in, you will see how handsome he is! He is actually a small guy with an extra long tail that curls at the end.
Previous to arriving at APA!, Pasquale had his teeth extracted. He eats both dry and wet food and prefers softer treats.

Pasquale has tested positive for Feline Leukemia. FeLV is not a type of cancer. It's a virus that causes a weaker immune system and often a shorter life-span. For the most part, 'FeLVies' are just like any other cat. APA! waives the adoption fees of these cats, and provides FeLV-related treatment and support post-adoption. Pasquale can only live with other FeLV+ cats, but dogs and other animals are just fine! Any questions? We'd love to talk with you about FeLV care.
All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
