Gentle, Sweet, Aloof

Almond is a classic brown and black tabby with a cute white muzzle. Though he can be nervous at first, once he gets to know you, he will give vigorous head butts in exchange for his favorite thing: head scratches. Almond isn't one for life in the fast lane - he prefers to take things slow. He's not into playing and he's very quiet - he just wants to live life at his own pace. Almond can be easily startled so it's very important that his forever home be a calm, predictable environment. He's started to blossom in his foster home and has shown a very sweet side, but it took some time to get there. He hasn't met other cats or dogs, but it's likely that, unless they were extremely quiet and slow-moving, he would do best as a single cat. The ideal home for Almond would be long on patience and love and short on noise and upheaval and would include loving humans who will pay attention to his behavioral cues and be willing to work with him while he gains confidence. We think he will continue to blossom if given a chance.

Almond has tested positive for Feline Leukemia. FeLV is not a type of cancer. It's a virus that causes a weaker immune system and often a shorter life-span. For the most part, 'FeLVies' are just like any other cat. APA! waives the adoption fees of these cats, and provides FeLV-related treatment and support post-adoption. Almond can only live with other FeLV+ cats, but dogs and other animals are just fine! Any questions? We'd love to talk with you about FeLV care.

All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
