Calm, sweet, curious

Hanie is a beautiful, sleek brown tabby with gorgeous jade green eyes and very tall ears. She has done a wonderful job raising a litter of kittens and is ready to find her forever home. Though Hanie was an attentive and patient mama cat, she is still quite young. She is moderately playful, but, once she really gets into it with a wand toy, she's into it. She'll leap up, grab it, and bite it to make sure she successfully vanquished it. Hanie is generally a calm cat, but she is definitely a skilled hunter and can bat anything that's dangly or could be confused with a wand toy; so be on your toes!

Hanie is a friendly cat who prefers to be around her humans, though she isn't quite a lap cat yet. She likes to receive pets (and she doesn't mind trilling sweetly to let you know when she's ready) and will purr, rub against your legs, then take off to continue exploring. Hanie will hang out on the ironing board that is near her foster mom's workspace, just to see what's going on. (She prefers a high perch whenever possible.) She did jump into her foster mom's lap, but seemed surprised when her enthusiastic kneading with sharp claws on human flesh resulted in a less than enthusiastic response and a sudden stop to the petting!

Hanie is still young and doesn't quite seem to understand that her claws are sharp! Likewise, she needs to have a lot of desirable scratching areas in her forever home. She has tried scratching the furniture in her foster home, so she'll need some gentle redirection and some more attractive options; she is a smart girl and will learn!

Hanie is a chatty girl with a collection of very sweet and gentle meows that reflect her personality. She isn't a fan of closed doors - she likes to be able to explore and to hang out with her humans. But she doesn't yowl, she meows softly to say, 'Please let me in there!' or 'Do you have any more exciting food?' Hanie isn't a hider, but she does like to explore little nooks and crannies. She's also happy to sit in a window and watch the world go by. Hanie met a 12-year-old child and did well with them but hasn't been exposed to younger kids, other cats aside from her kittens, or dogs. The ideal home for Hanie would have lots of scratching surfaces, a nice high perch or two, mysterious terrain to explore, and lots of wand toys to chase. She is calm and social and should do well in almost any loving home.

All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
