Hex Girl is a quirky, clever, smart, observant, and affectionate lady. She has gorgeous brown, gray and orange coloring, and because she's so beautiful, she has been prone to existential mirror moments where she's either checking out her gorgeous coat, or she's contemplating the meaning of life. Her coat is beautiful, and she has a lot of orange that comes out when the light hits her just right. Hex Girl knows she's pretty because she LOVES being pampered and groomed with a brush (it is her favorite thing in the world, next to being petted)!
Hex's foster has been calling her Prima (short for Prima Ballerina) because when she kneads, she looks like she's dancing in a ballet. She kneads whatever is under her paws almost constantly when getting pets, or being brushed, or receiving any attention. She loves kneading blankets and getting pets at night before she finally settles in for a nap. She enjoys snoozing or dozing nearby while you work and will sleep on the bed beside you, but she prefers to keep a tiny bit of a distance - but who doesn't these days?!
Hex loves to be petted, and will follow her humans around the house, rubbing against their legs. She's intent on getting her affection by rubbing up against your legs, and it takes an observant and patient person to understand she will be your shadow; be on alert so that she doesn't trip you or knock you over (she's strong!). She will tolerate being picked up if you have a reason, but she prefers to be on her own legs. She can get over-excited when you pet her and give love-nips, so might not be a good companion for a young child.
Hex loves to play, and if she doesn't like the toy you've chosen, she will go to the toy box, climb inside, find the toy she wants to play with, and drag it over to you - it's adorable! She would thrive in a home with teenagers or adults who can keep an eye out for her presence, and understand she loves to be underfoot so that you can see her gorgeous mane catch the light. She would be a great kitty for someone who works from home, and does not want a cat that tries to climb all over their computer, pester them, or constantly sneak into their lap while they work. Hex Girl will snooze with perfect behavior for practically the entire day.
Obviously, Hex would do best in a home with people to love! Bonus point if her home includes a tall cat tree in front of a window; she likes looking out the window and she seems to like to perch in high spaces.
Hex has tested positive for Feline Leukemia. FeLV is not a type of cancer. It's a virus that causes a weaker immune system and often a shorter life-span. For the most part, 'FeLVies' are just like any other cat. APA! waives the adoption fees of these cats, and provides FeLV-related treatment and support post-adoption. Hex can only live with other FeLV+ cats, but dogs and other animals are just fine! Any questions? We'd love to talk with you about FeLV care.
