Affectionate, Relaxed, Curious

Duke Wellington is a dapper young gentleman with a heart on his nose, courtesy of a dip just above his nose and a small outline of black fur around parts of it. He is also so! round! and an absolute sweetheart.

Duke Wellington has a curious streak, and comes over to say hi and give anything you're holding an investigative sniff. He often looks around at what's happening in the other kitty rooms around him, and he definitely understands how the treat box opens (but couldn't quite make it work himself). Despite his curiosity, he's generally unimpressed with toys (ribbons, wand toys, and balls, with and without bells, were all not exciting) and would much rather lounge and be loved on.

Perhaps part of his curious nature, Duke Wellington loves people! He walks right up to say hi when you walk in, and starts purring as soon as you start petting him. He often leans into chin scratches and will sometimes arch his back into strokes down his spine, and he'll rub his face against you or gently press his forehead into your hand if you stop before he's ready.

Duke Wellington is a pretty quiet guy, but meows occasionally (usually, it seems, in protest of you walking away), and it's the world's quietest, raspiest little meow.

Duke Wellington will be a great kitty for someone looking for a cat who will soak up affection while being pretty low-key. He's done well with kitty roommates at APA! and could definitely have a kitty friend, but seems like he'd be happy as an only cat, too.

Duke Wellington is a healthy FIV+ (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) cat. FIV+ cats typically live long, healthy lives! For more information, please contact APA! or read this FAQ: http://bit.ly/2DPxI43

All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
