Connected, Careful, Captivating

Cat Stevens and his brother, Catalina Wine Mixer, came to APA! together after having a not-great history of human companionship; they arrived with the bar set pretty low for people. Much to their surprise, they are finding that the people in their foster home are kind and gentle, they pet them, they play with them, and they feed them: people can be nice! So now Cat and Catalina are ready to expect more from people.

Sure, they were afraid at first, quietly sneaking around the house like "cat burglars", but after a little while they started to relax. As it turns out, these two love treats and belly skritches! If you are sitting down, they will approach you, snuggle up, accept pets, make a million biscuits on anything and everything, including you, and purr like crazy! They will let you pick them up, but not too close to your face. Who knows why. But a human face close to theirs is way too in-their-face for comfort right now. Maybe later. You'll know you have unlocked the next level of adorableness when they boop or headbutt you! In the meantime, your legs will never have been cuddled so much.

Standing up too fast will also send them scurrying. You can almost hear them thinking, "What are you doing? You're out of control! Sit down, for heaven's sake."

They are in their element when they play together. These two kitty cat boys love running around, leaping off the cat tower, and using the scratching post; they are athletic, energetic, and acrobatic. Wrassling and roughhousing together is fun! Life is grand! Cat Stevens persists in the quest of figuring out how toys work. Meanwhile, Catalina embraces all toys, especially a particular feather wand toy; if he finds it laying around, he will drag it around the house!

Cat and Catalina (https://bit.ly/3eZ98SW) obviously rely on each other and share a strong bond. They play together, they groom each other (and will groom you, too), and they call out for each other if they find themselves in different rooms. It would be best if they were adopted together so they could continue to help each other grow. Neither are aggressive but Catalina may give a startled hiss now and then; but give him some treats and rub his belly and you're golden.

These tabby brothers need a home with a kind, patient, and gentle person who is familiar with cats that need some time, TLC, and socialization. They are well on their socialization path and show all the signs of making great companions. They keep each other company while you are away and will interact with you without being pushy or needy. They have made such great strides in such a short period of time that we are confident they will continue to bloom. They deserve a great home and are ready for their forever human! Contact us today to arrange a meet & greet.

Cat Stevens has tested positive for Feline Leukemia. FeLV is not a type of cancer. It's a virus that causes a weaker immune system and often a shorter life-span. For the most part, 'FeLVies' are just like any other cat. APA! waives the adoption fees of these cats, and provides FeLV-related treatment and support post-adoption. Cat Stevens can only live with other FeLV+ cats, but dogs and other animals are just fine! Any questions? We'd love to talk with you about FeLV care.

All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
