Loving, Easygoing, Laid Back

Meet Dahlia, a sweet torbie girl who is as gorgeous as the flower she's named after! Dahlia is an easygoing cat who spends most of her days napping and lounging in the sun, which she likes to break up with a few playtime intermissions. Dahlia is the perfect mix of laid back and playful!

Dahlia is a long stay with APA! (since June 2021) and was transferred from another shelter due to her being diabetic. Her diabetes is regulated now, which means it's super easy to manage, and she's feeling great. Also, caring for her is a small price to pay in exchange for all the love and joy she will give you!

Dahlia is very affectionate towards people and loves snuggling with them on the couch or in bed at night. She doesn't beg for attention but will happily accept any scritches you will give her - especially chin and booty scritches, which always make her do the elevator butt! Dahlia isn't very needy and is pretty independent, so she would be fine in a home where her people need to be gone most of the day.

Even though she's relaxing most of the time, Dahlia definitely loves to play! Her favorite toys are the Yeowww! catnip bananas, kicker toys, wand toys, and laser pointers. If you give her catnip, Dahlia will go crazy for all of those. She will especially get into the laser pointer, zooming around to chase that little red dot!

Since she's on scheduled feedings, Dahlia tends to get a little hangry and follow you around when mealtime is approaching, but that's really the only time you'll hear her make any noise. She's the chattiest when you're preparing her food, meow-chirping the entire time since she's so excited to eat!

In her foster home, Dahlia lives with two other cats. She would be fine living with other kitties who run at her speed. Calm dogs would be best for her too, and older, relaxed kids.

Dahlia is very well behaved with perfect litter box manners and knows to use the scratching posts and never the furniture. She's super friendly to all people and enjoys a calm home environment. The ideal home for Dahlia is one with people who can maintain a consistent feeding and insulin schedule so she can continue living her best healthy life! And of course, she would be happiest in a home with loving people who will give her plenty of playtime and snuggles!

Dahlia has diabetes and requires some extra medical care, which includes a special diet of diabetic-friendly wet food and insulin. She can't eat kibble and must be fed on a regular schedule with no access to other food. APA! will provide you with a list of acceptable foods that can be purchased without a prescription. For more information, please contact APA!

All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
