Purr Machine, Playful, Lovely

It's hard to believe that beautiful, loving Shelly once hid out in a ceiling at APA! for two weeks! These days this friendly girl is much more likely to be found hanging out with her humans, playing with one of her toys or making biscuits as she happily purrs away! Patience, time and love are all that are needed to see this sweet girl absolutely blossom!

When Shelly is in an unfamiliar environment, she hides until her world feels safe. But, it is only a matter of time before she feels comfortable. Once she does, she transforms into a social, affectionate girl. In fact, within two weeks of arriving at her foster home, she was feeling like one of the family -- sleeping on her fosters' bed each night, following them from room to room and purring up a storm!

Shelly enjoys being petted and will even welcome a gentle belly rub on occasion. So fun because her tummy is extra fluffy! She is a master biscuit maker and has the cutest way of making air biscuits while she purrs away. She has recently started chatting by making little, happy chirps. She truly is the sweetest kitty! If you have visitors, she may hide. But, otherwise she wants to be where you are.

Shelly absolutely loves to play! Elastic hair ties are her current favorite plaything. Leave them out and she tends to hunt them down and snatch them away! She also enjoys more traditional toys and has so much fun capturing small toy mice and batting balls across the room. One of her new games is "surprise the human." She positions herself outside a door just waiting for an unsuspecting person to pass by. Then it's "Surprise!!" followed by her quickly running off. It's adorable! As much as she enjoys playing with humans, she is equally happy entertaining herself.

We don't really know much about Shelly's past. But, we do think she may have had a broken tail at some point - hers is short and oddly bent, but it doesn't cause her any problems. It's just another quirky little trait that adds to her charm!

Shelly's ideal home would be a quiet household with attentive, loving humans who will allow her to become comfortable at her own pace. Before too long, you will discover you have the sweetest friend, who is ready to amuse you, adore you and love you for life! Contact us for an introduction!

Shelly has tested positive for Feline Leukemia. FeLV is not a type of cancer. It's a virus that causes a weaker immune system and often a shorter life-span. For the most part, 'FeLVies' are just like any other cat. APA! waives the adoption fees of these cats, and provides FeLV-related treatment and support post-adoption. Shelly can only live with other FeLV+ cats, but dogs and other animals are just fine! Any questions? We'd love to talk with you about FeLV care.

All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
