When Dexter isn't solving crimes, he's stealing your heart! And how can you not fall in love with those ears!? Despite his rough start (he came from a massive hoarding situation), this guy has the biggest heart and the best manners. His favorite things to do include playing chase in the backyard, snuggling on the couch, taking walks (he's a dream on the leash!), and stealing a lick out of your tea when you least expect it!

This guy is also pretty smart and eager to learn new tricks! Now in foster care, Dexter is learning house-training quickly and has only had a few accidents since he arrived. He also loves his crate and nicely goes into it! When his fosters leave the house, he'll whine for a minute or two and then settle down.

With other dogs, Dexter is a charmer! He plays with his fosters' younger dog all day and has even won the heart of their older senior dog who tends to be selective about who she plays with. The senior dog even rushes to Dexter's rescue when she decides the younger dog is bossing Dexter around too much. He's made quite the impression on her - haha! Since Dexter was in an awful hoarding situation, he tends to want to keep his food to himself, but at a low level. He responds to redirection very well and would love to continue working on it with you! Otherwise, he has no problems sharing toys, Nylabones and water!

Dexter loves affection and is a total heartthrob! He also turns heads with his big, expressive ears! He's looking for an owner who is outgoing, loves taking walks, and has the time to shower him with love. Will you be the one that gives this guy all the unconditional love he's been missing out on?

PUPPIES AND OTHER HIGHLY-ADOPTABLE DOGS DISCLAIMER:

Puppies and other highly-adoptable dogs (small dogs or desirable-breed dogs) at APA! are very high in demand and usually have several interested adopters. Inquiring about a dog, meeting a dog, and even applying for a dog does not guarantee that you will be able to adopt the dog. Only one household will be able to adopt each dog, which means all other interested households will inevitably and unfortunately be disappointed. Please consider this in your search and set your expectations accordingly. Please also consider that adult dogs do not typically have competing adopters, and they need furever homes, too! Additionally, APA! does not allow the adoption of dogs who are related (e.g., littermates or mom and pup) to the same household for behavioral reasons.
