If you come to meet Parakeet, this active, playful girl will be so excited to see you and very eager to greet and please you, hopping up to say Hi.

Now in foster, this puppy is both an energetic playmate and a couch cuddle buddy. She loves to romp around the back yard and play fetch, kicking a ball around as she chases it. And she has the cutest gallop. As she chases toys, she gallops like a horse, her front paws pouncing. She likes to carry her toys around the house, especially her favorite squeaking blue beaver.

Then at the end of the day, she settles down in her fosters' laps as they watch movies from the couch, sweetly snuggling her face into their arms. She also likes to lounge in sunny spots in the house.

Parakeet has romped around the yard and played tug-o-war with her fosters' 8-year-old dog, and she loves going on walks with him. She's learned about walking from him and now is great on a leash. She is also very interested in her fosters' cat, prancing up to him and wanting to play. If the kitty doesn't want to and paws at her, she understands and retreats. And Parakeet also plays chase with her fosters' 6- and 8-year-old kids.

Parakeet does well in her crate, calmly staying there with a soft toy when her fosters are away. And she is making progress on her house-training, learning to potty outside.

Parakeet will love a home with parents who have plenty of time to play with her and continue her training. With more training, she should continue doing well with dogs, kids and cats. Come meet this adorable girl!

PUPPIES AND OTHER HIGHLY-ADOPTABLE DOGS DISCLAIMER:

Puppies and other highly-adoptable dogs (small dogs or desirable-breed dogs) at APA! are very high in demand and usually have several interested adopters. Inquiring about a dog, meeting a dog, and even applying for a dog does not guarantee that you will be able to adopt the dog. Only one household will be able to adopt each dog, which means all other interested households will inevitably and unfortunately be disappointed. Please consider this in your search and set your expectations accordingly. Please also consider that adult dogs do not typically have competing adopters, and they need furever homes, too! Additionally, APA! does not allow the adoption of dogs who are related (e.g., littermates or mom and pup) to the same household for behavioral reasons.
