Meet Martin – The Dog Who's Been Waiting His Whole Life for Someone to Believe in Him

With one mesmerizing blue eye and one warm brown eye, Martin is impossible to forget. He's athletic, adventurous, and always ready to hit the trails, go for long walks, or explore somewhere new. If you're looking for a companion who loves to be by your side, Martin is ready for the adventure.

Martin has spent far too much of his life waiting. He arrived at the shelter as a puppy, full of hope that his forever family would find him. Days turned into months, months into years, and somehow this handsome boy is still waiting for the person who will finally see what the shelter staff sees every day. And trust us—Martin is worth the wait.

Like many dogs who have grown up in a shelter, Martin is still learning about the world. He's mastered some basic obedience and is eager to keep learning. No one has ever had the chance to truly show him what it means to belong. Give him guidance, consistency, and patience, and he'll happily follow your lead. He wants nothing more than to make his person proud.

Martin has also had the opportunity to spend time in a home, where he showed everyone just how adaptable he can be. He's potty trained, comfortable spending short periods in a crate, and after a day of adventure, he's more than happy to stretch out beside you and watch TV. His favorite rewards aren't fancy treats—they're butt scratches, a good brushing, and simply being close to the person he loves.

Martin would be happiest as your one and only pet. He's waited his whole life to have someone of his own, and he'd love nothing more than to soak up all of your attention and return it with unwavering loyalty and affection.

Once Martin trusts you, you'll discover a dog with a huge heart and a deep capacity for love. The bond you'll build with him won't happen overnight—but the best relationships rarely do. Martin isn't looking for a perfect family. He's looking for someone willing to see past his imperfections and recognize the incredible dog he's always had the potential to be.

After all these years, Martin is still hoping that the next person who walks through the shelter doors isn't just stopping by...

They're coming for him.

Could that person be you?

INTERESTED IN FOSTERING?

This pup is currently located at our Town Lake Animal Center (1156 W. Cesar Chavez, but use 1200 Reserve Road for mapping purposes). We'd love to show them off to you! To learn more about them, head in any day between 12:00PM - 6:00PM. We are open 7 days a week! Go to Building B and ask to speak with a Matchmaker about fostering this pup. You will sit down and discuss all we know about them and, if it's a good fit, get to meet them then! Please budget for a wait time unless you arrive right at opening as we cannot dictate walk-in traffic (wait times tend to be highest in the evenings and on weekends). If this pup ends up not being the best fit, we have so many other pups in need that we can suggest for your household on the spot!
