Amelia Bedelia is a sweet senior who still has some pep in her step. She has a nice medium energy level and doesn't ask for much, content to enjoy the simple things in life like napping and hanging out with her person. But she also enjoys going for walks and is up for some nice hikes if you are. She has an adventurous and curious spirit and likes to sniff all the things when out and about, regularly checking in with her person with her big doggy smile to show how happy she is. She also has the most adorable face, very expressive eyes, a beautiful coat and a long tail with a white tip and super cute ears that stand up but kind of flop over at the ends. And her fur is amazingly soft.

Amelia is a little shy initially, but is friendly and cuddly with the people she knows and is excited when her friends come to take her on outings. She's already house-trained, isn't destructive in the home and walks nicely on leash. She's also super smart and picks up on new skills quickly, so it's no surprise she's thriving in APA!'s Total Obedience Program (TOP), which is modeled after the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test.

As a TOP dog, Amelia has a personalized training plan and works with a volunteer trainer several times a week to help her learn skills like sitting calmly when approached by strangers or other dogs, staying in a sit or down until told "free," coming when called, and she's already mastered "place", which means she will go to a specific place in your home on command.

Amelia is working hard to become a wonderful companion, and as a part of APA's Total Obedience Program you can work with APA staff to continue to build a training relationship with her after adoption and master all the TOP dog skills together. Check out a video on APA's CGC program, on which the TOP was based: https://vimeo.com/89434193

Some fun walks and a soft spot to relax and nap, and Amelia is one happy camper. Come meet her!
