Dex is a focused boy who meets the world with a curious mind and a vibrant, wiggly energy. His striking red-and-white ticked coat, magnificent upright ears, and observant eyes give him an attentive look that perfectly matches his sharp personality. He has been observed to be house trained as well.

As a true herding breed, Dex will thrive with an adopter who offers plenty of patience, clear direction, and a structured routine to help him navigate his world. Once he has a few minutes to settle into a new environment and feel secure, his affectionate side shines - he will happily step close for slow, gentle pets or offer a quick, friendly lick.

When it comes to outdoor activities, Dex loves to stay actively engaged. He has a spirited interest in the moving world around him, closely observing squirrels, birds, and passing cars. To channel his sharp focus productively, his absolute favorite activities involve interactive games like fetch or working with a herding ball in a secure area. He responds wonderfully to guidance and has a solid foundation of loyalty, making him a fantastic partner for a dedicated companion who enjoys a thoughtful, active lifestyle.

Dex would love to be the star of the show as the only dog in his forever home, where he can get all your attention. That said, he has great social potential - he currently participates in shelter playgroups, and foster sleepover hosts report that he warms up nicely to resident pets after a proper introduction.

INTERESTED IN FOSTERING?

This pup is currently located at our Town Lake Animal Center (1156 W. Cesar Chavez, but use 1200 Reserve Road for mapping purposes). We'd love to show them off to you! To learn more about them, head in any day between 12:00PM - 6:00PM. We are open 7 days a week! Go to Building B and ask to speak with a Matchmaker about fostering this pup. You will sit down and discuss all we know about them and, if it's a good fit, get to meet them then! Please budget for a wait time unless you arrive right at opening as we cannot dictate walk-in traffic (wait times tend to be highest in the evenings and on weekends). If this pup ends up not being the best fit, we have so many other pups in need that we can suggest for your household on the spot!
