Sam may look like a dog. But he's really a big teddy bear. This polite, affectionate boy loves all people, everyone he meets and those he lives with. He's a big cuddler who'll want to sleep next to you or snuggle with you while watching movies. If you're working at your desk, he'll bump your arm up with his head, meaning it's time to drop work and pet him.

This adventurous, energetic boy also loves car rides so much. He's a curious boy who's eager to go to his favorite small parks or beaches where he can explore and sniff everything (especially bushes). He's a great walking buddy who never pulls on his leash unless he sees squirrels or cats. He does pull hard so does best in a harness, but he answers to "stop" and "slow down." Then back home, he loves to play with his toys, and take a big nap. He's such a well-mannered, polite boy that he'll even ask permission to get on the couch.

Sam is a super well-behaved, house-trained boy who does very well when left home alone. He free roams and just happily awaits your return. He will enter a crate, but in his foster home he prefers sleeping on his dog bed. He's a smart boy and a great listener who answers to "sit," "lay down," "stay" and "shake" (for treats).

An ideal home for Sam would be with parents who are home most of the time and can take him for at least a couple of walks a day. He doesn't do well in crowded dog parks such as Zilker, but loves walks in neighborhoods or on leash trails in small parks. He'll also prefer to be the only pet in a home since he may or may not relate well to other dogs. Come meet this boy, he'll want a ride in your car!
