Let us tell you, it IS all in a name! Fun Guy is goofy and opinionated little dude that fully embraces his namesake. With his unique looks and comical antics, he's quite the character who has to be seen to be believed.

Once Fun Guy has gotten the day's lessons out of the way, he'll burst out in zoomies, zigging and zagging on his tiny legs until he's all wore out (He thinks he's a panther, but he's built more like an awkward crocodile with ears that can pick up radio stations). He also has the funniest way of sitting with his booty resting to the side. He loves going for walks and car rides and is a big fan of fetch. He also enjoys going to playgroup with his canine friends at the shelter where he likes to show off his awesome zoomies, and he's also lived with a cat in the past, so he could go home with a well-matched doggie or kitty sibling.

As much as he loves goofing off, Fun Guy also really enjoys learning and is a huge fan of food, so sit, down and the other basics come pretty easily. He's hand fed his meals while he's learning his commands, so his training sessions are his favorite part of his day!

Fun Guy is in APA!'s Total Obedience Program (TOP), which is modeled after the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. As a TOP dog, Fun Guy has a personalized training plan and works with a volunteer trainer several times a week to help him learn the skills to become the best dog he can be! Fun Guy is learning skills like walking nicely on leash, sitting calmly when approached by strangers or other dogs, staying in a sit or down until told "free," coming when called and "place", which means he will go to a specific place in your home on command.

Once Fun Guy successfully completes all the skills on his training plan, he will be considered TOP Dog Ready! Fun Guy is working hard to become a wonderful companion, and as a part of APA's Total Obedience Program you can work with APA staff to continue to build a training relationship with him after adoption and master all the TOP dog skills together. Check out a video on APA's CGC program, on which the TOP was based: https://vimeo.com/89434193

INTERESTED IN FOSTERING?

This pup is currently located at our Town Lake Animal Center (1156 W. Cesar Chavez, but use 1200 Reserve Road for mapping purposes). We'd love to show them off to you! To learn more about them, head in any day between 11:30AM-6:00PM. We are open 7 days a week! Go to Building B and ask to speak with a Matchmaker about fostering this pup. You will sit down and discuss all we know about them and, if it's a good fit, get to meet them then! Please budget for a wait time unless you arrive right at opening as we cannot dictate walk-in traffic (wait times tend to be highest in the evenings and on weekends). If this pup ends up not being the best fit, we have so many other pups in need that we can suggest for your household on the spot!

Come meet your new best friend
