"Let's go outside to chase squirrels!"

Lillian is a beautiful pup with a shiny black coat and a distinctive white line down her face. She crosses her paws when she's resting and likes to keep those paws nice and clean with her meticulous grooming habits. Although she can be shy when meeting new people, she's very friendly once she warms up. She loves to give kisses and to be wherever her people are and follows her foster mom's boyfriend around everywhere he goes like she's his permanent sidekick.

Lillian's more of a lover and not much into playtime, unless playtime means staring out the window and looking for squirrels. This poor thing is obsessed with squirrels and would likely enjoy a secure yard to wear herself out trying to keep them in line. If she sees squirrels through the window, she begs you with all her heart to take her out there so she can get them!

Lillian has impeccable manners in the home and is a very faster learner. She already knows sit, down, high five and can sit and wait until she gets the "free" command. She's house-trained and is happy to nap they day away and doesn't get into any trouble when left home alone. She has a lot of energy to burn, is working on her leash skills, and she'll likely make a nice running partner if she can keep herself from being so distracted by those darn squirrels!

Lillian is also thriving in APA!'s Total Obedience Program (TOP), which is modeled after the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. As a TOP dog, she has a personalized training plan and works with a volunteer trainer several times a week to help her learn even more skills like sitting calmly when approached by strangers or other dogs, coming when called and "place", which means she will go to a specific place in your home on command.

Lillian is working hard to become a wonderful companion, and as part of APA's Total Obedience Program you can work with APA staff to continue to build a training relationship with Lillian after adoption and master all the TOP dog skills together. Check out a video on APA's CGC program, on which the TOP was based: https://vimeo.com/89434193

This lively pup is going to make some lucky person very happy and she's sure to fill your home with laughter and love. If you need a little of that in your life, come meet Lillian!

INTERESTED IN FOSTERING?

This pup is currently located at our Town Lake Animal Center (1156 W. Cesar Chavez, but use 1200 Reserve Road for mapping purposes). We'd love to show them off to you! To learn more about them, head in any day between 11:30AM-6:00PM. We are open 7 days a week! Go to Building B and ask to speak with a Matchmaker about fostering this pup. You will sit down and discuss all we know about them and, if it's a good fit, get to meet them then! Please budget for a wait time unless you arrive right at opening as we cannot dictate walk-in traffic (wait times tend to be highest in the evenings and on weekends). If this pup ends up not being the best fit, we have so many other pups in need that we can suggest for your household on the spot!

Come meet your new best friend
