We've rustled up a good 'un here! Rustler is a handsome, healthy young adult who would love to settle in with a family where this fun dog will put a smile on everyone's face.

Rustler is overall a pretty chill guy, but he's ready for anything - a long walk or run, hanging out in the yard or even just some couch surfing. He doesn't need much and doesn't have an overly energetic demeanor that needs constant attention. He's just a cool guy who's very affectionate and loves to be with his people. He's got an ever-present bounce in his step that reflects his sunny outlook and just wants to be everyone's friend.

Rustler is fantastic on a leash and doesn't get distracted by other people or dogs, as he keeps his focus on his walking partner. He is extremely obedient and behaves very well without a lot of management. He's lived in home before so he knows to follow the rules.

Rustler is also thriving in APA!'s Total Obedience Program, so much so that he recently became TOP Dog Ready, which means he has already learned all the skills in his training plan! The Total Obedience Program (TOP) is modeled after the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test, and as a TOP Dog, Rustler works with a volunteer trainer several times a week to learn skills like walking nicely on leash, sitting calmly when approached by strangers, calmly walking past another dog, staying in a sit or down until told "free," coming when called and "place, which means Rustler will go to a specific place in your home on command.

Rustler has worked hard to become a wonderful companion, and as a part of APA's Total Obedience Program you can work with APA staff to continue to build a training relationship with Name after adoption and master all the TOP dog skills together. Check out a video on APA's CGC program, on which the TOP was based: https://vimeo.com/89434193

Rustler's looking for a home where he can get some cuddle time and a soft place to lay his brindle head. Come meet him and see if he's right for yours!
