We hope you don't mind if we chirp about our Cricket. Besides the adorable way she tilts her head as she waits for a treat, the most important thing to know about Cricket is that she is an admirer and collector of toys. Cricket LOVES toys and she always keeps several in her kennel. And she often proudly shows off one to her volunteer visitors. If she passes a toy while on a walk at APA! she must investigate and evaluate. If she were a human, she'd have a whole room "mint in box."

Cricket is good with people of every type, big and small, and is great at meeting strangers. She will walk right up to them for pets but doesn't jump up on them. Cricket has lived with kids (aged 7 and 10) in foster, and she was very gentle and patient with them. She loved being petted and playing fetch and tug-of-war and also met a lot of the kids' friends and was great with meeting all of them.

Cricket's just a great pup to have around - she's affectionate without being needy and high energy and playful when you want her to be. She will put her paw up on your to get attention or just lay her head on your lap to let you know it's time for pets. When indoors, she naps a lot and is happy to relax and lounge about. She has a tendency to sleep in really funny poses - curled up as small as possible like a cat, or on a chair with her head hanging off or sprawled out with her paws daintily crossed, or on her back with her paws in the air. But once she gets outside, her high-energy side comes out, and she loves to go on long hikes or runs or play fetch for as long as you can stand it.

With her expressive eyes, constant wagging tail and big floppy funny ears, Cricket has a lot of personality and seems to exude gratitude anytime her people come near her. Cricket has great manners at home and quickly learned and obeyed which pieces of furniture she was and wasn't allowed on. She almost never barks in any situation and sleeps through the might in her crate. She walks pretty well with a gentle leader and gives great eye contract to keep those treats coming. In fact, Cricket is such a good training buddy that she recently became CGC Ready, which means she successfully passed the American Kennel Club's CGC test with her volunteer trainer!

To pass the CGC test, a dog must demonstrate obedience and general reliability in real world situations. A CGC-Ready dog knows sit and down, walks nicely on leash, will sit calmly when approached by strangers or another dog, won't approach people or dogs without permission, greets people appropriately, stays in a sit or down until told "free," and comes when called.

Cricket has been working hard to be a dog you can take anywhere with pride, and as part of APA!'s CGC program you can work with APA to continue to build a training relationship with her after adoption and get officially CGC certified for free! Cricket but would be great for a single person, couple or family with kids. She would love a backyard romp around in as long as the fence is tall because this Cricket can jump! Cricket has got a lot of love to give, so if you're looking for a smart, happy, affectionate pup who's eager to learn and eager to please, come meet her!
