Once Ravenclaw gets comfortable with a new person, she becomes highly affectionate snuggle buddy and smothers them in kisses. She solicits pets by pushing her head into your hand or leaning up against you, and she gets really excited if you sit down - that's her cue to climb up for some cuddles and kissy time! She definitely thinks she's a lap dog and will sprawl across your lap and roll over for belly rubs. With her adorable soft belly, she's impossible to resist.

Ravenclaw loves squeaky toys, and while she's not much into rough-housing, she LOVES doing zoomies, and is seriously amazing at them (check out her video). The way she starts and stops and tucks her butt under herself when she's zooming around is perfection. Then once she gets her ya-yas out, this little chunkster is happy to chill and proves to be a pretty low to medium energy lady.

Ravenclaw goes to playgroup with her canine friends at the shelter and could go home with a well-matched doggie sibling. She's fully house and crate-trained and has done great on sleepovers with volunteers. She already knows sit, place and recall and learning even more skills in APA!'s Total Obedience Program (TOP), which is modeled after the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test.

As a TOP dog, Ravenclaw has a personalized training plan and works with a volunteer trainer several times a week to help her learn the skills to become the best dog she can be! She is learning skills like walking nicely on leash, sitting calmly when approached by strangers or other dogs, staying in a sit or down until told "free," coming when called and "place", which means Ravenclaw will go to a specific place in your home on command.

Once Ravenclaw successfully completes all the skills on her training plan, she will be considered TOP Dog Ready! Ravenclaw is working hard to become a wonderful companion, and as a part of APA's Total Obedience Program you can work with APA staff to continue to build a training relationship with her after adoption and master all the TOP dog skills together. Check out a video on APA's CGC program, on which the TOP was based: https://vimeo.com/89434193

Loving, silly, smart and affectionate, Ravenclaw will make a wonderful addition to any number of loving homes who will give her plenty of attention. In return, she promises to love you forever. Come meet this great pup!
