Triton is all about the snuggles, and his favorite thing is to find a way to squirm up on his human's lap for some quality cuddle time. That beautiful grey-blue-silver coat make him a real head-turner, and when he isn't chilling at home with his people, this handsome guy likes to burn off some energy by going on hikes, swimming, playing tug of war or just running around playing chase with one of his beloved squeaky toys.

Triton does well when meeting new people, and he's also very well-behaved in the home. He's house and crate-trained, but can also be left home alone uncrated without getting into any trouble. He's very treat motivated, already really good at holding a "sit" and "down" until told "free", and he's learning all kinds of new skills in APA!'s Total Obedience Program (TOP), which is modeled after the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test.

As a TOP dog, Triton has a personalized training plan and works with a volunteer trainer several times a week to help him learn skills like walking nicely on leash, sitting calmly when approached by strangers or other dogs, coming when called and "place," which means he will go to a specific place in your home on command. And as part of APA's Total Obedience Program you can work with APA staff to continue to build a training relationship with Triton after adoption and master all the TOP dog skills together. Check out a video on APA's CGC program, on which the TOP was based: https://vimeo.com/89434193

Triton enjoys going to playgroup at the shelter, and he could go home with a well-matched doggie sibling, possibly a social female. He could also go home with older kids who can handle his rowdy play style. This sweet and affectionate boy will make a wonderful companion to some lucky family, and he can't wait to meet you!

INTERESTED IN FOSTERING?

This pup is currently located at our Town Lake Animal Center (1156 W. Cesar Chavez, but use 1200 Reserve Road for mapping purposes). We'd love to show them off to you! To learn more about them, head in any day between 11:30AM-6:00PM. We are open 7 days a week! Go to Building B and ask to speak with a Matchmaker about fostering this pup. You will sit down and discuss all we know about them and, if it's a good fit, get to meet them then! Please budget for a wait time unless you arrive right at opening as we cannot dictate walk-in traffic (wait times tend to be highest in the evenings and on weekends). If this pup ends up not being the best fit, we have so many other pups in need that we can suggest for your household on the spot!
