Jenga is a very affectionate and playful girl who loves hugs and cuddles and listening to Beyonce. She absolutely adores people and will immediately dive in for snuggles. She gets so excited sometimes that she needs to burn off some energy before returning for the pets, but after some heavy playing, she is super duper cuddly and loves getting butt scritches. This spunky pup LOVES to play and will happily chase after rope toys and squeaky toys, and greeting her in her kennel is always a blast because she gets so excited to get some attention.

To go with those gorgeous eyes and great smile, Jenga also has one of the best curious faces. If you point and excitedly say "what's that??" she will look in the direction with her eyebrows furrowed and ears perked up, and then go investigate and make sure there isn't some squirrel up to no good. Jenga loves to explore new spaces and is always on the hunt for 4-legged "friends."

Jenga is also always up for an adventure and very quick to learn new things. You can tell that she is always thinking, and she definitely benefits from mental stimulation. She's very treat-motivated and eager to please her person, and training and agility have been great for her. She learned "shake" in a matter of minutes, and after she does something well, she revels in the praise and affection from her trainer. So far, Jenga knows sit, come, place, and shake. Her leash skills are coming along and she gives fantastic eye contact and is thriving in her TOP dog classes.

The Total Obedience Program (TOP) is modeled after the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. As a TOP dog, Jenga has a personalized training plan and works with a volunteer trainer several times a week to help her learn the skills to become the best dog she can be! Jenga is learning skills like walking nicely on leash, sitting calmly when approached by strangers or other dogs, staying in a sit or down until told "free," coming when called and "place," which means Jenga will go to a specific place in your home on command.

Once Jenga successfully completes all the skills on her training plan, she will be considered TOP Dog Ready! Jenga is working hard to become a wonderful companion, and as a part of APA's Total Obedience Program you can work with APA staff to continue to build a training relationship with her after adoption and master all the TOP dog skills together. Check out a video on APA's CGC program, on which the TOP was based: https://vimeo.com/89434193

Spunky, sassy, smart, loving, athletic, curious and gorgeous, Jenga will make a wonderful companion to any number of loving homes. She'd love a yard to burn off some energy, but if but as long as she can go on long hikes or runs, she should be one happy camper. She also may be able to go home with a well-matched doggie sibling. Come meet this great pup!
