Midnight is a sweet girl who loves to cuddle with her humans. Once she's known you for a few hours, she will nestle her head right next to you and fall asleep in your arms. She's shy and gentle with new people, but is excited to greet her friends with happy wiggles and kisses. It also doesn't hurt that these people tend to have her favorite thing in the world: Toys!

While Midnight is always super happy to see her favorite people, her eyes really light up when she sees her favorite toys. Midnight LOVES squeaky and rope toys and will have short bursts of high energy where she'll romp around in the sandbox and chase after them. But it doesn't take long for her to get her ya-yas out, and then she's ready to snuggle or nap with her person, laying in their lap and just enjoying being pet. This sweet girl will also happily jump into the backseat of your car and lay down for the ride. Although she loves having a nice walk in the park, this quirky puppy loves to smell parked cars in the parking lot the most. She could spend all day getting a whiff of those strange smells!

Taking Midnight for walks are a breeze, as she'd rather stay close to you and get more pets than pull on the leash. She's also the perfect house guest and is very good at being left home alone. Midnight is fully house and crate-trained, but can be trusted to be home alone without it, happy to keep herself entertained with toys until her people return. This super smart lady who knows "sit" and stay put in front of an open door until you tell her she's free to go. She's actually an expert on all the basics; she has advanced recall training and responds to her person's command to "come" even when distracted or her person is far away.

Midnight is also thriving in APA!'s Total Obedience Program (TOP), which is modeled after the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. As a TOP dog, Midnight has a personalized training plan and works with a volunteer trainer several times a week to help her learn skills like sitting calmly when approached by strangers or other dogs and "place," which means she will go to a specific place in your home on command. As part of APA's Total Obedience Program you can work with APA staff to continue to build a training relationship with Midnight after adoption and master all the TOP dog skills together. Check out a video on APA's CGC program, on which the TOP was based: https://vimeo.com/89434193

A great combination of playful and chill, Midnight is an easy companion with plenty of personality to fall in love with. She'd would love a quieter home with a backyard to romp around in, lots of toys to play with and plenty of cuddle time with her people. If that sounds like yours, come meet this sweet girl!

INTERESTED IN FOSTERING?

This pup is currently located at our Town Lake Animal Center (1156 W. Cesar Chavez, but use 1200 Reserve Road for mapping purposes). We'd love to show them off to you! To learn more about them, head in any day between 11:30AM-6:00PM. We are open 7 days a week! Go to Building B and ask to speak with a Matchmaker about fostering this pup. You will sit down and discuss all we know about them and, if it's a good fit, get to meet them then! Please budget for a wait time unless you arrive right at opening as we cannot dictate walk-in traffic (wait times tend to be highest in the evenings and on weekends). If this pup ends up not being the best fit, we have so many other pups in need that we can suggest for your household on the spot!
