Jason is described by his friends as one of the most loyal dogs you'll ever meet. Once Jason warms up to someone new, each time he looks at them, it's clear they're his whole world. He has the best smile and breaks out his big old goofy grin when he's napping next to you upside down. It's also the best position for belly rubs, which along with cuddling, are Jason's favorite things in the world. He'll lay his head in your lap and hold your hand with his paw and look up at you adoringly with those soulful eyes. He's also been known to shower his friends with kisses.

While Jason's a big old chonk who's certain he's a lap dog, he also likes getting out for exercise, whether that's long walks or runs or chasing after tennis balls. And when he gets really excited, the wiggle starts at the tip of his tail until his whole bum is wiggling with joy, and sometimes that excitement tips over into running full tilt super zoomies! Indoors, when he's not in cuddle mode, Jason enjoys his chew toys and will also happily sit and nom on a squeaky toy.

Jason is fully house and crate-trained and has a strong desire to learn and please his people. He's very treat-motivated and enjoys his training sessions in APA!'s Total Obedience Program (TOP), which is modeled after the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. As a TOP dog, Jason has a personalized training plan and works with a volunteer trainer several times a week to help him learn skills like sitting calmly when approached by strangers or other dogs, staying in a sit or down until told "free," coming when called and "place", which means he will go to a specific place in your home on command. As part of APA's Total Obedience Program, you can work with APA staff to continue to build a training relationship with him after adoption and master all the TOP dog skills together. Check out a video on APA's CGC program, on which the TOP was based: https://vimeo.com/89434193

Jason also goes to playgroup with his canine friends at the shelter and could possibly go home with a well-matched doggie sibling. This happy, playful guy would love a lower traffic home with someone who will give him lots of snuggle time and also get him out for plenty of exercise. In return, he promises to be your most loyal and loving companion. Come meet him!

INTERESTED IN FOSTERING?

This pup is currently located at our Town Lake Animal Center (1156 W. Cesar Chavez, but use 1200 Reserve Road for mapping purposes). We'd love to show them off to you! To learn more about them, head in any day between 11:30AM-6:00PM. We are open 7 days a week! Go to Building B and ask to speak with a Matchmaker about fostering this pup. You will sit down and discuss all we know about them and, if it's a good fit, get to meet them then! Please budget for a wait time unless you arrive right at opening as we cannot dictate walk-in traffic (wait times tend to be highest in the evenings and on weekends). If this pup ends up not being the best fit, we have so many other pups in need that we can suggest for your household on the spot!

Come meet your new best friend
