"I am a cat in a dog's body, so please treat me like you would a cat. Except I'm better than a cat, because I'm a dog".

Albus is still figuring out how this beloved family dog thing works. It takes him a bit of time to warm up to new people, but the more you spend time with him, the more he'll start nudging your hand and leaning into you for pets. When he's really comfortable, he'll plow his head right into your hands and beg for massages. He's very in tune with his person's feelings, and will put his head on your knee, looking lovingly into your eyes, falling head over heels in love. When he smiles, Albus' face shines as bright as the sun. Once you've earned his trust, this sweet guy will do anything for you. He's very treat-motivated (and loves apples!), so that can help speed things along.

In his foster home, Albus has proven to be an excellent houseguest. He's house-trained, does well left home alone, and loves hanging out in his crate. It's his safe space and he sleeps all through the night in there. He also thrives on routines, especially for feeding. Albus has a nice low to medium energy level, walks easily on leash and gives amazing eye contact. While at the shelter, he enjoyed going to playgroup with his canine friends and could go home with a well-matched doggie sibling.

Albus is a smart pup and has made great strides in APA!'s Total Obedience Program, which is modeled after the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. As a TOP dog, Albus has a personalized training plan to help him learn the skills to become the best dog he can be! He's learning skills like sitting calmly when approached by strangers or other dogs, answering to "sit" and "down" until told "free," coming when called and "place," which means he will go to a specific place in your home on command. And as a part of APA's Total Obedience Program you can work with APA staff to continue to build a training relationship with him after adoption and master all the TOP dog skills together. Check out a video on APA's CGC program, on which the TOP was based: https://vimeo.com/89434193

This sweet old soul would love a quiet home where he can slip into a nice routine. Come meet Albus, he'll be the most loving and loyal companion you could hope for!
