With his cute white patches on his feet and chest, Dude is one handsome pup. He can seem reserved when he first arrives in a new home, but it's not long before his goofy and affectionate personality comes out.

Dude's a fairly active pup who likes his walks, wiggling in the grass on his back and romping around the yard. But overall he has a medium energy, and after a bit of exercise, he's ready to go back to being a couch potato. He's also a big fan of his stuffed toys, and when his people get home, he'll run over and grab and toy and show it to them. He enjoys playing tug of war and will pull politely without growling and also loves chasing tennis balls and will play fetch as long as you have a second ball to trade him with. He also loves laser pointers and will happily spin in circles chasing that little red dot.

Dude can be shy at first with new people outside of the home but seems to enjoy to meeting people in the house. If visitors show him love, he loves them right back. Either way, he warms up pretty quickly and then is always asking his people for pets and gazing at them with those sweet eyes. If you want to know the secret to Dude's heart, it's definitely through belly rubs - he gets absolutely giddy when he's receiving them and will roll over onto his back asking for them every chance he gets. And peanut butter. Dude loves his peanut butter.

This smart fella already knows sit, down, shake, stay and come. And if there are treat involved, you can put him in a sit/stay and exit his line of sight without him moving until you call him. He has this adorable way of tilting his head to the side when being spoken to, as if he's really trying to figure out what you're saying to him.

It's clear Dude is eager to please his people, and he's extremely well-behaved in the home. He can be left alone uncrated without getting into any trouble, and while he has been crate-trained, he's not crazy it; and in exchange for being left to roam free in the house, he makes sure not to take advantage. Even with treats left on the counter, he completely ignores them. He has been known to get on the bed when no one's around (nobody's perfect), but he's good about getting down when told "off". He'll ask to be let out when he needs to and is very good about taking care of his business right away.

Dude is generally very quiet and rarely barks, not even making a fuss when the neighbor's dog is carrying on about something. But if someone's getting close to the house, he'll bark to let them know there's someone inside keeping an eye on things and that they best not come in and start a ruckus. He's happy to sleep in without waking up the humans, but when you're up, the first thing he wants to do in the morning is have a fun game of keep away with his stuffies. While he definitely being in the same room with his people, his former fosters described him as a reassuring presence without constantly being in the way. He also LOVES getting brushed and will run over and sit or stand politely once he sees that brush come out.

Calm, well-mannered and playful, this sweet guy would make a wonderful addition to any number of loving homes who will give him plenty of attention. And he'd love one with a yard to explore and roll around in the grass. In return, Dude promises to be the best dog he can be and make you feel very, very loved. If you could use some of that in your life, come meet him!
