Jagger is a genuine people lover who's friendly with strangers and has done well with the children he's met, giving them sweet kisses to say hello. He has gorgeous topaz eyes and a deep soulful gaze, and when you speak to him, it's like having an actual conversation. He sits and listens, head tipped to one side, taking in everything with those amazing ears. He's adorable, funny, he listens well and is a first rate cuddlebug, so he's a bit confused as to why he's not in a home anymore. Jagger lived with a family for four years and was reported to have great manners. He's fully house and crate-trained, but can also be left home uncrated without getting into trouble.

Jagger's energy level mirrors that of the people he's with, and his favorite thing to do is whatever it is they're doing. He can be silly and full of energy or just chill around the house, but he definitely loves to play and is a big fan of jolly balls and squeaky toys; rope toys in particular make his heart beat a little faster! The list of activities Jagger enjoys are endless: tug of war, fetch, frisbee, wrestling, swimming and of course all the snuggling you can handle. He also goes to playgroup with his canine friends at the shelter and could possibly go home with a well-matched doggie sibling.

On top of having a wonderful disposition, this super smart pup is a quick learner and has mastered a bunch of skills, including sit, down, come, and "give me a kiss". So it's no surprise Jagger is thriving in APA!'s Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program where he works with a volunteer trainer several times a week toward the goal of passing the American Kennel Club's CGC test. To pass the CGC test, a dog must demonstrate obedience and general reliability in real world situations. Dogs in the CGC program learn to walk nicely on leash, sit calmly when approached by strangers or another dog and stay in a sit or down until told "free." And as part of APA's CGC program you can work with APA to continue to build a training relationship with him after adoption and get officially CGC certified for free! Check out a video about CGC: https://vimeo.com/89434193

INTERESTED IN FOSTERING?

This pup is currently located at our Town Lake Animal Center (1156 W. Cesar Chavez, but use 1200 Reserve Road for mapping purposes). We'd love to show them off to you! To learn more about them, head in any day between 11:30AM-6:00PM. We are open 7 days a week! Go to Building B and ask to speak with a Matchmaker about fostering this pup. You will sit down and discuss all we know about them and, if it's a good fit, get to meet them then! Please budget for a wait time unless you arrive right at opening as we cannot dictate walk-in traffic (wait times tend to be highest in the evenings and on weekends). If this pup ends up not being the best fit, we have so many other pups in need that we can suggest for your household on the spot!

Come meet your new best friend
