With his white chest and beard, AJ has a distinguished air about him which completely disappears when he does zoomies around the yard or gets a hold of an empty water bottle. This boy has never met a ball or squeaky toy he didn't love and plays like a dog half his age. And he's so excited to start his next adventure!

AJ is really good listener, and you can expect him to follow you around the house like the world's most adorable personal assistant, ensuring all your needs are met and flashing those puppy dog eyes to ask for some pets or belly rubs. He can be shy with new people, but once he knows you're cool, you'll be treated to kisses and lots of snuggling.

AJ's previous foster parents report that he has excellent manners in the home, even if he's a bit of a couch (and lap) hog. He also does well with the resident small and medium-sized resident dogs and is good about taking corrections from them.

AJ is fully house and crate-trained and knows his basics commands. He's learning even more things in APA!'s Total Obedience Program (TOP), which is modeled after the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. As a TOP dog, he has a personalized training plan and works with a volunteer trainer several times a week to help him learn skills like walking nicely on leash, sitting calmly when approached by strangers or other dogs, staying in a sit or down until told "free," coming when called and "place," which means he will go to a specific place in your home on command.

As part of APA's Total Obedience Program you can work with APA staff to continue to build a training relationship with AJ after adoption and master all the TOP dog skills together. Check out a video on APA's CGC program, on which the TOP was based: https://vimeo.com/89434193

AJ would love a home where he'll get plenty of attention and playtime, and he'd absolutely adore a yard to romp in. In return, he promises to be your most adoring and loyal companion. Come meet him!
