If you're someone who likes running, outdoor adventures, and LOTS of cuddles, Balthazar is the pup for you!

Balthazar, aka Zar, is the ultimate package. He's athletic, he's kind, and he's so well-mannered. Zar is a total sweetheart who knows no strangers, and is always excited to meet new people and greet them with wiggles and kisses. At the end of the day though, he's ultra-loyal and wants nothing more than love and attention from his person. He expresses his love with kisses and snuggles - he totally thinks he's a lap dog, and will always seize the opportunity to get close to you.

When it comes to furry friends, Zar does best with active dogs who can play and romp around with him. We haven't observed him around older, more laid back dogs before. In his prior foster home his foster mom was working with him on refining his playtime manners - sometimes he doesn't get the hint when other dogs are annoyed with him, and needs to be corrected now and again. We also haven't observed him with cats in a home, but he frequently interacts with strays and has shown no aggression towards them.

As mentioned before, Zar loves adventures and exploring outside. His favorite activity is hiking, where he can sniff and run around to his heart's content. He's also a fabulous running companion, and would love to join you on walks too! Even though he lives for his outside activities, this curious boy is also perfectly content just hanging at home with his person. He also loves toys and can entertain himself with them if he can't talk you into a game of chase or tug of war.

Zar was very well behaved in his foster home, and knows all the basic commands and even some crate training too! He does struggle with transitions and his previous foster home was working with him on separation anxiety training. Separation anxiety is relatively common in shelter dogs and can be treated with some basic training and stable routines. When his person leaves the house he cries out a bit, but really, he just has FOMO. Once his person leaves though, he calms himself down pretty quickly and will go back to chewing on a bone, cuddling up in his bed, or lounging by a window to watch the world go by. He can be left alone at the house with no issues but would love it if his person works from home occasionally.

Don't pass up the opportunity to meet Zar, he has so much love to give his perfect family and he can't wait to cover them in kisses and do zoomies with you!
