Callum would like you to know what his perfect day is. It starts with playing catch in the backyard, followed by walks in a quiet neighborhood. Next would be returning home to relax with his durable chew toys. And he would love to end up snuggling with his people to watch TV and fall asleep.

This silly, playful puppy can be skittish when first meeting people, so slow introductions are ideal for him - he likes you to buy him dinner before letting you be his friend! Then given time to get acquainted and learn to trust, he becomes their snuggle bug. He loves their attention and snuggles to get their affection. And for sure he returns his love.

He is being a pleasure to take on walks, being relaxed and happy as long as strange people aren't too close. He hasn't reacted to cars passing or dogs he sees, and hasn't barked at kids riding bikes and skateboards. At home, he's interested in his two doggie housemates and curious about the cats, but hasn't reacted negatively. He loves being with his people, excited to see them and jumping up to say hello. A curious, smart boy, he's learned to obey "sit" and is making progress on "stay." And he's already house-trained. He prefers to be with his people, but he will settle to sleep in his crate at night.

Callum hopes for a home with parents who are home a lot and can continue his calm, consistent training and help him learn to trust and accept new people he meets. And he's an active boy who'd like a dog buddy his size or larger. Come spend some time with him and he'll become your cuddle bug.

PUPPIES AND OTHER HIGHLY-ADOPTABLE DOGS DISCLAIMER:

Puppies and other highly-adoptable dogs (small dogs or desirable-breed dogs) at APA! are very high in demand and usually have several interested adopters. Inquiring about a dog, meeting a dog, and even applying for a dog does not guarantee that you will be able to adopt the dog. Only one household will be able to adopt each dog, which means all other interested households will inevitably and unfortunately be disappointed. Please consider this in your search and set your expectations accordingly. Please also consider that adult dogs do not typically have competing adopters, and they need furever homes, too! Additionally, APA! does not allow the adoption of dogs who are related (e.g., littermates or mom and pup) to the same household for behavioral reasons.

INTERESTED IN FOSTERING?

We are currently closed to the public and are only open by appointment (foster or adopter), but we are still diligently working to place dogs in foster homes! You can inquire about fostering a specific dog by submitting an inquiry through the dog's individual profile on this website or by emailing [email protected] to get more information about how to be matched with a foster dog.

Please do not visit our shelters without talking with us first. To prevent community spread, we cannot have large crowds gathering in our shelters.
