John Milton is a super sweet puppy who's already learned how much he loves the outdoors. This playful boy loves sunbathing and rolling around in the grass. Then he's happy to play chase and toss up his toys. And he'll sometimes grab his leash and try to take himself for a walk.

Once he has his leash on, he walks very well and enjoys his hiking. He would like to play with other dogs he sees, but doesn't pull on his leash. He's also played well with a dog he's met. He is skittish, shy and nervous when meeting new people and may run away from them. Now in foster, he's beginning to welcome petting and even enjoying being chased by his new friends. While he prefers being outdoors, he loves his indoor crate, spending much time there even with the door open and considering it his safe space. And he's a house-trained pup who's had few minor accidents.

John is a gentle, easygoing boy who will hope to move in with parents he can trust and who can take him for those hikes he loves. He'll love a home with a backyard and a dog buddy. He is heartworm positive, but all that means is that he'll need a couple of months of rest during treatment, at APA!'s expense. Come meet him. He'll investigate you and once he warms up to you, he'll follow you home.

PUPPIES AND OTHER HIGHLY-ADOPTABLE DOGS DISCLAIMER:

Puppies and other highly-adoptable dogs (small dogs or desirable-breed dogs) at APA! are very high in demand and usually have several interested adopters. Inquiring about a dog, meeting a dog, and even applying for a dog does not guarantee that you will be able to adopt the dog. Only one household will be able to adopt each dog, which means all other interested households will inevitably and unfortunately be disappointed. Please consider this in your search and set your expectations accordingly. Please also consider that adult dogs do not typically have competing adopters, and they need furever homes, too! Additionally, APA! does not allow the adoption of dogs who are related (e.g., littermates or mom and pup) to the same household for behavioral reasons.
