Schmidt is a curious puppy who's already so interested in the humans he loves. It's amazing that he even recognizes the ones he sees on TV, and starts giving tiny yaps at them. He just hopes they'll come off the TV to join his foster parents in giving him petting and belly rubs. His favorite day involves chilling out and napping next to his humans. And he will nudge their faces to say hi and request their attention-and love.

Now in foster care, this playful boy also loves playing and bonding with his sister. He's also trying to get accepted by his fosters' 4-year-old dog, giving him kisses, sleeping next to him and trying to play with him. The other dog is grumpy, but Schmidt still tries. He also has fun running around the yard and getting chased. This sweet boy came to the shelter with a broken jaw which has not yet fully healed, so he currently needs a little help with eating and drinking. But he likes to look for sticks and toys to chew, like any other puppy.

He's an outgoing, cuddly boy who likes to roam the house and yard and be a shadow for his people, but he is good at entering his crate and pen. He does well in the pen when his humans leave the house, just chilling out until they return. He already understands "sit" and is making progress on his house-training.

Schmidt could do well in a variety of homes-as the only pet or with a doggie sibling. He's an energetic boy who enjoys chasing squirrels and loves to be chased himself, so he will love parents who can take him for hikes and adventures. They will just need to continue providing a little extra TLC until his jaw is completely healed. Come meet this lovable boy!

PUPPIES AND OTHER HIGHLY-ADOPTABLE DOGS DISCLAIMER:

Puppies and other highly-adoptable dogs (small dogs or desirable-breed dogs) at APA! are very high in demand and usually have several interested adopters. Inquiring about a dog, meeting a dog, and even applying for a dog does not guarantee that you will be able to adopt the dog. Only one household will be able to adopt each dog, which means all other interested households will inevitably and unfortunately be disappointed. Please consider this in your search and set your expectations accordingly. Please also consider that adult dogs do not typically have competing adopters, and they need furever homes, too! Additionally, APA! does not allow the adoption of dogs who are related (e.g., littermates or mom and pup) to the same household for behavioral reasons.
