Rubie is such a sweet gem of a girl! She loves her human friends and shows it by rolling on her back and asking for belly rubs. Then she'll thank them by giving them so many sweet kisses. She's also a thumper. She's so happy to see people come in the room that she'll thump and thump her tail on the floor.

Now in foster care, this mature lady is very low-maintenance. Gentle and friendly, she loves rolling in the grass, on the floor or on her fosters' beds. With her perfect manners, she doesn't pester anyone. She just follows people room to room, then lays down near them. She'll cuddle with them, but just when invited to come up on the bed or couch. She gets along well with her fosters' two dogs and is friendly with all pups she sees on her walks. She also calmly walks away from cats she sees. And she loves the 12- and 14-year-old kids she's living with, rolling over for their belly rubs.

Rubie enjoys going for slow, short walks and is perfect on her leash. She needs to lose some weight and if she does, she may like longer ones. At home, she's calm and responds well to commands such as sit, down, come and no. She also goes to her bed when told to and sleeps well. She's on medication that causes her to drink more water, so has had some accidents, but does well when she can go outdoors often.

She will love a home where she can hang out with her people all day, but she'll also lounge well if she has to wait for them to come back. She'll get along nicely with other pets who respect her space. She is heartworm positive, but all that means is that she'll need a couple of months of rest during treatment, at APA!'s expense. Once she's cured, she may enjoy longer walks and trips around town. Come meet this lovable lady!
