UPDATE 3:30: Four cats have been confirmed to be pulled: #540310, #540163, #540165 & #540309. See rest of cats still waiting.
Fifteen adult cats were surrendered to Town Lake Animal Center last Friday by their owner, who said he was moving and could no longer care for them.
Austin Pets Alive! is urging the community to step forward and save the lives of these cats, whom they've nicknamed the Del Valle 14. One of the cats was euthanized yesterday and 14 others need homes immediately.
“Someone cared for these cats and made them social and loving but unfortunately had to leave them all at the shelter. Now they have a cold which is contagious, so they cannot stay at TLAC,” said APA! president and local veterinarian Dr. Ellen Jefferson. “They don't have much time. APA! is looking for fosters and adopters who can care for these cats by the end of the day tomorrow. APA! will provide the medications needed to recover from their cold which should take about 10 days.”
See story on KXAN.
If you want to help by fostering, contact APA!. If you are able to adopt one of these great cats, you can go straight to TLAC. Be sure to take their animal ids with you.
