It is October 31, known widely to the rest of the nation as Halloween. To us here at Austin Pets Alive!, October 31, 2011 has a special meaning. In addition to being everyone's favorite costumed holiday, October 31 is the very last day of the ASPCA Challenge in which APA! has been participating these last three months. The winner of the challenge, which is based upon the organization that increases its adoptions the most over a three-month time period compared to last year, will receive a $100,000 grant.
$100,000 would mean a lot of lives saved for APA! As we spend approximately $100 on each animal we take into our program, winning the grand prize would enable us to save the lives of 1,000 animals at risk of euthanasia in Central Texas. What's more, we have the opportunity to win an additional $25K for the Community Engagement prize. Supporters interested in helping us can vote for TX-Austin Pets Alive! at www.VoteToSaveLives.org until 11 p.m. CT tonight, and previous adopters can share their adoption stories here.
We're so excited about what we've accomplished and the lives we've saved over the past three months, but we want to ensure we end this challenge on a high note. So, join us tonight at our Adoption & Resource Center (2807 Manchaca Rd.) for a Halloween adoption extravaganza! We will be open until 10 p.m., and adoption fees for all ready-to-go dogs over three months will be waived. Ready-to-go pups under three months will be available for a $25 adoption fee. Trick-or-treaters and families welcome. We hope to see you there!
