Almond was rescued in May when he was very sick with parvovirus! We rarely see dogs Almonds age with parvo (3yrs old) but unfortunately the virus does not discriminate. Lucky for Almond he is a survivor!
Almond is a very sweet boy and not in the least nutty. Like most dogs, Almond doesn’t love being in a kennel, so he wants it known that he’s ready for his forever home! Meanwhile, he is happy when he gets to go out and play with his human companions and just hang out by their sides, relaxing with his legs stretched out behind him. To show his affection, he loves giving big kisses.
Almond needs hip surgery (FHO) on his left side that we think is due to an old fracture that was re-injured in the shelter, after his parvo treatment was completed. Almond's current length of stay in the shelter, 7.5 months, only exasperates his urgent need for surgery as shelter life tends to be harder on these dogs due to the repeated jumping and lunging in the kennels!
