Austin Pets Alive! will open its fourth site this weekend to offer seven-day-a-week adoptions.
The fourth site will open beginning tomorrow, March 7th, at the PetSmart location in the Mueller development at 1201 Barbara Jordan Blvd, thanks to a generous donor who wishes to remain private.
His donation to APA! of $20,000 will pay for a van and necessary supplies at the new site and will help fund a fifth site to be launched in a couple of weeks.
“This donation will save between 260 and 520 dogs per year from the euthanasia list at Town Lake Animal Center,” said APA!’s president and local veterinarian Dr. Ellen Jefferson. The group estimates that the donation will equal approximately $50 for every dog saved.
“Our donor wanted to make an investment that would have a meaningful return. In today’s stock market, this is a much more rewarding return on an investment than stocks that don’t move,” Jefferson added.
