Last friday night an art benefit was held by Mettasound Veterinary Imaging on behalf of Austin Pets Alive and Love-a-bull. The painting pictured in this post by artist, Melissa Wen Mitchell-Kotzeva, is none other than APA's Armstrong! You may remember Armstrong as the little pup who had to have his front limb amputated a few months ago. He has since been adopted by his foster, Robyn Roberts and has been renamed Dieter. She just fell too hard for his little puppy face to let him go! You may remember Robyn as the foster for Honey, the dog who was severely burned. Dieter (aka Armstrong) is now a happy (and hoppy!) boy and gets along great with his two doggie brothers (a papillon and pit mix) and a kitty cat. He loves to play with Kibby, his papillon brother! He has a special wrestling move that he calls "THE PAW" which is his special take down tactic that he uses only in emergencies when he is losing the game. Due to his injuries when he arrived at TLAC, he likely would have been euthanized, but thanks to APA he now has a long and happy life ahead of him.
Robyn Roberts is also the owner or Mettasound Veterinary Imaging and helps APA by doing ultrasounds at no charge. She hopes to organize more fundraisers like the Art For Animals Benefit in the future.
