Update 10/14/10: The Drive has been extended to October 31st. If you prefer not to raise funds yourself, but just donate to the Drive to help us reach our $50,000 goal, you can do so here. You can also see all pets who have already been saved, thanks to the funds that have already been raised in this drive.
Since our last Drive, we have saved 2,922 dogs and cats from imminent euthanasia at Town Lake Animal Center! 400 of those animals were saved as a direct result of the 2009 Save a Life Drive and you.
With the move-in of our new building, we now have the space and capability to save more animals. In addition, adoptions and donations tend to decrease in the fall, but the number of animals does not! Each animal costs us about $100 for spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchipping, testing, and parasite treatments. If we raise those funds, it will be that much easier for APA to continue paying the costs for housing, adoption sites, vehicles, and all the other costs that go into saving lives.
Our goal this year is to raise $50,000 to save 500 pets. APA! supporters are a passionate and impressive group, and I know that collectively we can gather enough support to reach our goal!
Anyone who raises $10 will get an APA! magnet. We also have donated prizes for the top raisers! In addition, anyone who raises at least $500 gets recognition on our donor wall in the new building.
We are using an online application, Razoo, that allows people to donate towards a goal. This will be much like being sponsored in a marathon. We will also have a "thermometer" on our website where you can see how we are doing as a group! The donation drive will end on Friday, October 15th31st. To learn how to sign up and get involved, send an email to [email protected]
So let's get out there and do what APA! does best: reach out to friends, family and co-workers, show them how much these animals need them, and what a big difference they can make!
