Huge thanks to Bastrop Animal Control who are going to all of the addresses that have been sent to us where there might be an animal trapped inside of a house with no food or water.
Yesterday, we made it through almost all of our list of animals who could still be inside. The very last house on our list was still standing and was locked. Animal Control had to call the owners to find out how to get in. The owners thought that their house had burned. Not only was their house fine, but their two cats inside were ok too, just really hungry and thirsty!
They've left out food and water at all of the properties where the houses were burned down.
Our vet clinic is still set up by the dog park in Bastrop on Grady Tuck. We'll be there until further notice from 9am-7pm every day. People can stop by to get vet help for their pets, supplies like food, and can get help with temporary boarding for their pets if they need it.
You can also contact us by email if you need to get help with boarding your pet. Please send an email to [email protected].
Austin Pets Alive! is not housing strays from the fires. The Bastrop strays are being held at the Bastrop Animal Shelter and the Austin Humane Society. While there is a lot of great information being posted on facebook, we also recommend checking out this website, which is trying to compile all facebook information.
