Blue Boy had his surgery on Monday night (sorry it took so long to update). His is now urinating out of a small hole in his groin. You can't see it. The good news is that it is not leaking at all. The bad news is that his bladder still is not contracting and emptying itself.
For the past few days he has been tolerating 3 x/day catheterization. He is such a good obedient boy. He doesn't like it but he will sit still and let it happen.
BUT today for the first time, I was able to gently press on his bladder to express it without having to catheterize it and when he strained to urinate a few drops came out!
So we are very hopeful that in a few more days, he will have full control just like a normal dog! He is such a wonderful dog and certainly deserves a great life after all he has been through. He is feeling pretty good now too- zooming around the house looking for cats to stare at and barking at dogs that pass by (not aggressively).
This boy is a keeper. Beautiful, tall, sweet with dogs and cats (not pigs), adores his people, and will entertain himself with rawhides. What more could you ask for?
