Calamity Jane went in for a checkup on Monday, March 15. She has been doing well and her little bandages were just getting in her way. She was sick of them and wanted them off. We actually had to rebandage her on Sunday because she kept managing to wiggle them down to right above her thighs. We had her wear a sweater all the time to kind of act as extra bandages- and to keep her warm as she is half shaved!
The check up went great. They took off the bandages and the stitches are healing perfectly. She will have a scar, but I think the hair may grow in fairly well and hide it. The main set of stitches are along her ribs toward the front and it was at least a 4-6" incision. HUGE when I could actually see it without bandages. But she is healing perfectly. And she gets to keep the bandages off.
He checked her out and said she is healing great. Even better than expected! Her heart now sounds like a perfectly normal puppy heart. Yay for no murmur and yay for long life for puppy girl CJ!
Since then she has been home and is finishing recovery. Her energy is way up and we have to make her calm down a lot. She thinks she is completely healed, but she is still supposed to be crated a lot and have almost all down time. She wants to run and jump and wrestle and bite and play. She doesn't realize she just had major surgery. She thinks she's just a 3 1/2 month old pup who needs to have some fun! She is doing great and her stitches can come out early next week. Woooohoooo!
