Dixie was one of those dogs that everyone in APA! knew. Not just because she was unexplainably with us for a while, but also because she jumped into each person's heart with excitement and affection.
We received an update and some photos of Dixie from her new foster family. Dixie went in for knee surgery earlier this week.
"Dixie is home from her knee surgery! She is a bit tired but she even tried to hop up onto her favorite chair. She will have a couple of weeks of restricted movement until she heals a bit but she was in good spirits when she saw the kids and the other dogs. For now she is resting and happy to be home.
Prior to surgery, Dixie was getting used to our routines and she is doing well with the other dogs. They have been figuring out how she fits into the group and it has gone well. She gets really excited when our son Patrick, who is initially the one that picked Dixie, comes home. She jumps all over because she is so happy.
I really liked my experience with APA. I liked that they were very thorough in figuring out if we were a good fit together. Dixie meeting my dogs before she came to our home was wonderful because it gave the dogs a chance to get to know each other before she came home."
To see these dogs who just needed a little more time to find their perfect family go to a forever home is part of what makes us all so proud to be a part of APA! Congratulations to Dixie and the Linton family!
We are still raising money to cover the costs of Dixie's knee surgery. If you'd like to help click on the ChipIn (http://apa.chipin.com/dixie) we set up for Dixie or e-mail [email protected]
