Lemonade Stand: This classic fundraiser helps the community stay hydrated during the summer heat while supporting the animals of Austin Pets Alive! Sell lemonade at the end of your street to your neighbors and tell everyone who stops by that the proceeds go to APA!Dog Wash - Have a dog washing station in your front yard. Charge a certain fee for each wash and all proceeds go to APA! This is a great way for the dogs and yourself to stay cool this summer!
Halloween Collection – Use this door-to-door holiday to collect change instead of candy! All the money collected goes to APA!
School Drive - Ask your principal if you can have a school-wide drive and ask for things such as dog/cat toys, dog shampoo, leashes, … etc. To get a good idea of what we need look at our wish list!
For the Adults:
Competing Donations - Contact your employer's rival company and compete against each other to see who can raise the most money in a certain amount of time! ***
Special Day - Invite employees at your work to pay a certain amount at the office to wear or do something you wouldn't normally be able to do at the office (wear jeans if your office has a business causal dress code) for the rest of the week! All proceeds go to APA!
Choose the Torture – Have donors pay a specific amount of money a vote to decide which form of “torture” to inflict on your boss (i.e. dye hair, dress as a clown, duck tape to a wall).
Make the Grade – Make a deal with your kids! If they make A’s or B’s in school you will donate a certain amount of money to APA! (A's give more money than B’s)
Doggie/Kitty Birthday - Have a birthday party for your cat or dog and all gifts will be donated to APA!
Garage Sale – One person’s junk can be another person’s treasure! Organize a garage sale and you’ll clean out your house and give back to the community at the same time. APA! gets 100% profit and you get a cleaner house!
Wedding or anniversary get and give - For a couple’s wedding or anniversary, give their friends the Austin Pets Alive! Wish List and request that all party attendees bring an item from the list instead of a present for the couple. The presents can then be dropped off at APA!
Neighborhood potluck - Great way to get to know your neighbors! Have every family in the neighborhood bring a certain dish; everyone attending pays for a ticket; for a fun twist, make it a contest by voting for the best dish with each dollar being a vote!
Bring your dog to work day - Invite employees to pay to bring their dog to work and all of the money that is collected goes to APA!
Drive at work - Put a basket in the break room and ask for donations such as leashes, toys, dog shampoo, kitty litter... etc
For Organizations:
Thankful Jar - Pass around a jar at the beginning of every meeting and people who want to participate can put in a dollar or two and say what they are thankful for. You can also make it a peaks and pits topic as well. Get creative with it!
Basket Raffle – Pick different themes for baskets full of goodies (assign each member to bring one thing to fill the basket). Basket ideas could be sports theme, chocolate, summer fun, etc. Then sell $1 raffle tickets for each basket. All proceeds go to APA!
Recipe Book – Participants can gather favorite recipes. Provide categories for the contributors, such as appetizers, fish, chicken, desserts, etc. so you don’t end up with too many in one category. For best results, have a local printer compile and print the booklets. Utilize as many avenues as possible to sell the booklets: school events, flyers, etc. All proceeds go to APA!
Penny War – Groups challenge one another to collect the most pennies! Pennies are positive points and silver coins are negative points (a nickel for example is -5 points). Participants are encouraged to place nickels, dimes and quarters in the opposing team's jar. All proceeds go to APA!
Bake Sale – Participants donate and price home-baked goods. With prior permission, hold the bake sale at school or a local shopping center. All proceeds go to APA!
Breakfast Burrito Sale - participants donate the ingredients to make the burritos, make them, and sell them at a location that is pre-approved. All proceeds go to APA!
Hands On Fundraising:
Braided Fleece Toys - Get together with a group of friends or family and make braided fleece toys for the dogs! Fabric or cut up jeans are perfect materials!
Rice Sock Heating Pads - Get together with a group of friends or family and make rice sock bags for the baby kittens in our Bottle Baby Nursery!
