Update 3/20 7pm: Thanks so much, everyone! She is doing better today. She is urinating well and started eating this morning. Her short-term foster named her Reba. We received 4 foster applications for her (THANK YOU!) and have moved her into her new foster home.
Update 3/19 4:30 pm: Dr. Jefferson saw this girl today and here's what she found:
-104 degree temperature
-Has not urinated in 4 days (probably housebroken and couldn't get up due to the pain) and they catheterized her and removed 2 gallons of urine from her bladder
- Badly broken leg (it is splinted now, will need a specialist to fix by surgery, but she'll be ok if she only gets splinted)
- Broken hip, will need an FHO (Femural Head Osteoctomy) at Animal Trustees of Austin in 5 weeks (just like Hunter)
She's on pain meds, antibiotics, and medication to keep her urinating.
We'll see how she does over the next 24 hours and will re-evaluate, if she's not feeling better.
Her costs will be around $700 for medications, x-rays, and the FHO surgery. If we can raise an additional $800, we'll get her into the specialist to have her leg rebuilt.
She came into shelter with a hurt leg but was all tail wags and kisses. Now she can barely lift her head she is in so much pain. She still wags her tail when you pet her and tries to return the affection that is given to her.
This lab was brought into TLAC as a stray and doesn't even have a name yet.
We are pulling her right now, but need a foster home. All of our existing foster homes are full. Is there anyone out there who could foster this girl through her recovery? If so, please submit a foster application and we'll contact you asap!
She's going to see Dr. Jefferson this afternoon and we hope to know the full extent of her injuries then. We will definitely need to collect donations for her treatment, as she will need surgery.
