Merida is the sweetest dog! The poor girl was brought to Austin Pets Alive extremely emaciated and as a diagnosed but unregulated dog.
Because of her body condition we can only assume that either she was not being fed properly or her unregulated diabetes caused her to become so gaunt and skeletal. She only weighs 19lbs and should be about 30-35lbs.
Merida has been hospitalized and is being treated for her diabetes. Despite this she has not gained weight and may need further testing to try and identify another cause of her dramatic body condition. Merida needs insulin twice a day and medical care to get her back to a normal healthy weight.
